Rainbow School is a small international pre-school catering for children from the age of 15 months to 6 years. It was established in Hanoi in 1996 and is famous for its friendly family environment. It offers a challenging and engaging programme, based on the British National Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage, and aims, above all, to provide opportunities for all children to succeed in an atmosphere of care and of feeling valued.
Please note that the cut-off date for each class is 31st August. For example, to enter the Discovery Class a child must turn 3 by 1st September.
Our teacher/child ratio is low, our groups are small and there is an ex-pat teacher assigned to each class from Discovery to Kindergarten. In addition to this, each class has a Vietnamese teacher who works alongside the main teacher and the classes for the younger children also have extra Vietnamese assistants. All the teaching staff are qualified and have many years' experience in pre-school education.
The school has excellent facilities both indoors and outdoors. Each classroom is air-conditioned, bright, spacious and well equipped with educational, creative and imaginative toys, a wealth of children's books, computers, art and craft materials and different activity corners. We also have a library which the children visit every week.
The school's outdoor space offers children the best facilities in the Tay Ho area with a large grassy garden, a tiled playground and a spacious covered sandpit. In these areas children enjoy a wide variety of equipment, including climbing frames, playhouses, a see saw, toy cars, tricycles, swings, slides, chalk boards plus plenty of space to run around.
The school is open from Monday to Friday, from 8.00a.m. to 3.15p.m. The school is very flexible and offers both full day and half day options to all of its children. Children may also attend 2,3,4 or 5 days per week depending on age and preference. Lunch is optional and children can be picked up either before or after.
The children are divided into their respective classes in the morning where they follow a programme which is carefully planned to encompass the 7 areas of learning and development as outlined in the British National Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage:
The activities and play planned for each week aim to encourage progress in every aspect of the child's development.
A hot nutritious meal is freshly cooked every day on the premises at an extra charge of VND 74,000 per meal. The weekly menu is carefully planned to provide a healthy diet for the children and is given to parents to consult in advance.
From January 7th, 2013 Rainbow School will be offering a full day programme to all children.
15 months to 3 years
The afternoon programme for this age includes a nap time of between 1 1/2 to 2 hours followed by planned activities (art, storytime, water and sandplay) and a snack. Pick up time will be the same as for older children - 3.15pm.
3 years to 6 years
The school's afternoon programme for older children offers a wide variety of activities which include the following:
Children staying for the afternoons also benefit from a short sleep or rest if required, a mid-afternoon snack provided by the school, and an outdoor play time. The school has a daily mini-bus service (see fees). The bus is air-conditioned, has fitted seat belts and is always supervised by a bus monitor.
The school has an open-door policy and welcomes active involvement from the parents and the local community. A weekly newsletter provides updates of class activities and coming events. The school opens its doors to the public every Tuesday afternoon (during term time) from 3.00p.m. to 5.00 p.m. for the Rainbow Playgroup.
A seven-week summer programme runs from late June to early August. It is open to all children aged 18 months to 7 years. For further information on Rainbow School and registration please contact the School Relations Manager, Linda Smith.
